EHB450 eBooster Plug&Brake

EHB450 eBooster Plug&Brake

Electro-Hydraulic Brake Booster

iBooster Gen 2 remanufactured and tested
For: Land Rover Series (II / IIA / III), Defender 90 / 110 / 130 and equivalent classics (Toyota 40 Series / FJ40).

LHD / RHD — Universal pedal mount. On stock and ready to ship.

Replaces the vacuum-dependent brake servo of your Series or Defender with a modern electro-hydraulic actuator. No engine vacuum required, no parasitic power loss, no delay.

The EHB450 is a remanufactured and tested Bosch iBooster Gen 2 unit, pre-wired with a standalone fail-safe harness and delivered with every adapter, bracket and component needed for a bolt-in installation. No fabrication. No vehicle electronics integration. No guesswork.

What’s included

  • 1× Bosch iBooster Gen 2 unit (remanufactured electro-hydraulic brake booster with integrated control unit and master cylinder)
  • 1× Remote brake fluid reservoir with low-level indicator
  • Reservoir mounting hose & clamps kit
  • Standalone fail-safe wiring harness (battery power, ignition and ground only — no CAN bus, no vehicle integration)
  • Wiring and connector for the reservoir low-level sensor
  • Brake line adapters for your vehicle (On series you will have to adapt to M10*1 if you have the earlier imperial type, but just on the MC fittings)
  • Vehicle mounting bracket set
  • All mounting hardware, ties and connectors

Advantages

  • No vacuum dependency. Works on diesel, petrol or swapped engines. No more vacuum pump, no more hose, no more lottery.
  • No parasitic power loss. The vacuum pump on a diesel robs 1–2 HP continuously. The EHB450 only draws power when you brake.
  • Instant response. Under 100 ms from pedal to full assist. Eliminates the 300–500 ms dead time of the vacuum servo.
  • Consistent pedal feel. Altitude, temperature and engine condition no longer matter. The assist is the same every time.
  • Light pedal effort. ~12 kgf instead of 30–35 kgf.
  • Mechanical fail-safe. If the electronics fail, the pedal retains direct mechanical linkage to the master cylinder. You brake without assist, not without brakes.
  • Preserves originality. No cutting, no welding, no permanent modifications. Fully reversible.

Why you need it

Drive your Series or Defender with the confidence of a modern braking system.

Eliminate the vacuum lottery: worn pumps, altitude loss, cold mornings, leaking 40-year-old servos.

Shorter stopping distances, less pedal effort and repeatable performance in any condition.

There are plenty of testimonials from people who have upgraded their classic cars to this solution, and every report mentions the increase in stopping power and the improved pedal feel. However, it doesn’t invent grip where there is none. It removes the vacuum bottleneck and extracts everything the tyres, discs, drums and chassis can give.

Installation & compatibility notes

Practically plug-and-play in about 4 hours for a competent mechanic. Everything is included so you don’t have to run to the hardware store.

Note for Series pre-1980: Many use 3/8"-24 UNF fittings. The kit includes adapters, but you will need to flare the lines to the European M10×1 ISO (bubble) standard to connect to the iBooster. This is the only step requiring specific tooling; everything else is bolt-on.

Not compatible with vehicles retaining the original vacuum servo. The vacuum servo, pump and hose must be removed.

Safety-critical component. Installation must be performed by a competent mechanic. Brake system bleeding and testing are mandatory.

Normally on stock. If not, production lead time 2–6 weeks.
